Eidos plc (“Eidos”) announces that its Japanese office will start to publish console games from November 2001. Eidos’ Japanese office was opened in 1998 and to-date has been localising and publishing PC games in Japan, with all of Eidos’ console games being licensed to Capcom and Enix.

The first game to be published in Japan by Eidos will be Fear Effect 2 on PlayStation. Other titles to be released include the record breaking Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? on PlayStation, and forthcoming PlayStation 2 titles Soul Reaver 2, Commandos 2, Herdy Gerdy and the Japanese-developed titles Jet Ski Riders and EOE Eve of Extinction.

Satoshi Honda, managing director of Eidos Japan says:
“This is great news and it will certainly reinforce Eidos’ position as a truly global company. We will be selecting those titles best suited to the Japanese market, localising them and then making modifications where necessary to fully maximise their sales potential.”
